Saeed Jaffrey (1929 – 2015)

Saeed Jaffrey died in the early hours of November 14 at a London hospital. He was 86 years old. He had collapsed at his london residence from a brain haemorrhage and never regained consciousness. His funeral was held a week later.

Om Puri (1950 – 2017)

On 6 january 2011, Puri died at On 6 January 2017, Puri died at the age of 66, after having a heart attack at his residence in Andheri, Mumbai. He was honoured at the 89th Academy Awards in memoriam segment for his contribution in Indian and world cinema.

Sulabha Deshpande (1937 – 2016)

Sulabha Deshpande died on 4 June 2016 in Mumbai, after prolonged illness. She was cremated the next day.

Amrish Puri (1932 – 2005)

Amrish Puri was suffering from myelodysplastic syndrome, a blood disorder, and had undergone some brain invasive surgery for his condition after he was admitted to the Hinduja hospital on December 27 2004. His condition required frequent removal of the blood accumulated in the cerebral region of the brain and after some time he slipped into a coma shortly before his death.

Rajesh khanna (1942 – 2012)

In June 2012, it was reported that Rajesh Khanna’s health had been deteriorating for some time. After being critically ill, khanna died on 18 july 2012.

Amjad khan (1940 – 1992)

In 1976, Amjad Khan had a severe accident on the Mumbai-Goa highway which left him with broken ribs and a punctured lung. He was going to participate in shooting of film The Great Gambler starring Amitabh Bachchan. Due to the serious injuries he also almost slipped into a coma, but fortunately, he recovered soon. The drug administered during his operation caused him to gain a lot of weight, which led to further health complications. As a result of his increasing weight, he died in 1992 after suffering from heart failure at the age of 51. Several of the films he had completed were released after his death, until 1996. His funeral procession passed from his house in Pali Hill to the Muslim Burial in Bandra East.

Rami Reddy ( 1959 – 2011)

Rami Reddy had been suffering from liver ailments. He died at the age of 52 on 14 april 2011 at 11:30 am in Hyderabad.

Bob Christo ( 1938 – 2011)

The 72-year-old actor died of “rupture of left ventricle valve” in Bangalore on 20 March 2011. Tributes poured from all over India.

Laxmikant berde ( 1954 – 2004)

Laxmikant Berde died in Mumbai on 16 December 2004 due to a kidney ailment. Very few know that Laxmikant Berde was a very good Ventriloquist and Guitar Player.

Sunil Dutt (1930 – 2005)

Sunil Dutt died of a heart attack on 25 May 2005 at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar (1950 – 2014)

Sadashiv Amrapurkar developed a lung inflammation in October 2014 resulting in hospitalisation at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital where his condition became critical. He died on 3 November 2014, 64 years old.

Dina Pathak (1922 – 2002)

She completed her last film, Pinjar (2003), but died before its release, due to heart attack, following a prolonged illness, on 11 October 2002 in Bandra, Bombay.

Feroz Khan (1939 – 2009)

He died from lung cancer on 27 April 2009 at the age of 69. He was buried in Bangalore near to his mother’s grave at Hosur Road Shia Kabristan.

Sudhir (1944 – 2014)

He died on 12 May 2014 at the age of 70. He had long been suffering from a lung infection.

Razzak Khan (1951 – 2016)

Khan died around 12:30 AM on 1 June 2016, following a heart attack. He was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Bandra, where a doctor declared him dead on arrival. He was buried at Byculla on 2 June 2016.

Siddharth Ray (1963 – 2004)

Siddharth died of a massive heart attack on 8 march 2004 at the age of 40.

Ajit Vachani (1955 – 2003)

He died in Mumbai on 25 August 2003 at the age of 52, after a prolonged illness.

Deven Verma (1937 – 2014)

He died at 2am on 2 December 2014 in Pune following a heart attack and kidney failure.

Farooq Sheikh (1948 – 2014)

Farooq Sheikh died of a heart attack on 27 December 2013 in Dubai, where he was on holiday with his family. His funeral prayers, held in Mumbai at Millat Nagar Mosque on 30 December 2013 in the evening. He was buried in Muslim Qabristan. His grave is next to his mother’s grave.

Mahavir shah (19660 – 2000)

He died in a car accident in chicago in 2000 at the age of 40. He is remembered for portraying several villainous roles.

Goga Kapoor (1940 – 2011)

Kapoor died on 3 March 2011 in Mumbai, aged 70 following a prolonged illness.

Nargis Dutt (1929 – 1981)

Nargis was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent treatment for the disease at Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Upon her return to India, her condition deteriorated, and she was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Bombay. She went into a coma on 2 May 1981 and died the next day.

Rajesh vivek (1949 – 2016)

Rajesh died on 14 January 2016 at the age of 66 due to a massive heart attack while shooting for a film at Hyderabad.

Om Shivpuri (1938 – 1992)

Om Shivpuri died in 1990 of a heart attack. Several of his films were released after his death.

Satyen Kappu (1931 – 2007)

He died on 27 October 2007 in Mumbai following a cardiac arrest. He was 76 and is survived by his wife and four daughters.

Shammi kapoor (1931 – 2011)

Kapoor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai on 7 August 2011 suffering from chronic renal failure. His condition remained serious for next few days and he was kept on Ventilator support. He died on 14 August 2011, 05:15 am  of chronic renal failure, aged 79. Funeral was held on Monday, 15 August at Banganga cremation ground, Malabar Hill, Mumbai.

Iftekhar (1920 – 1995)

Iftekhar died on 1st March 1995, a few days after his younger daughter’s passing away at the age of 75.

Dara singh (1928 – 2012)

He was admitted in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on 7 July 2012 following a cardiac arrest. He died on 12 July 2012 at his home in Mumbai. He was cremated at Juhu crematorium.

Suresh Chatwal (1948 – 2016)

The veteran and television actor Suresh Chatwal died on 28 may 2016 after prolonged illness and was cremated on next day.

Gavin Packard (1964 – 2012)

Packard died of respiratory disorder on 18 May 2012 and was buried at the St. Andrews Burial Grounds in Bandra the next day. Despite his long and notable cinematic career, the funeral was conspicuous by the absence of any representative from the film industry. So sad.

Silk Smita (1960 – 1996)

On the night of September 22, 1996 she had contacted her friend, dancer Anuradha, to discuss a matter that was disturbing her. Anuradha said she could not come during the night, as her husband would be coming home shortly, but would meet her in the morning.

In the morning of September 23, 1996, Smitha was found dead in her Chennai home, much to the shock of her fans. The reason behind her death remains a mystery. Some believe it was suicide, due to depression over her debt accumulated from producing movies, while others call it foul play.

Parveen Babi (1949 – 2005)

She was found dead on 22 January 2005 after her residential society secretary alerted the police that she had not collected milk and newspapers from her doorstep for three days. The police suspected that she may have been dead for up to 72 hours before her body was found. The police ruled out any foul play and it was determined she succumbed due to total organ failure and diabetes.

Anand Abhyankar (1963 – 2012)

Abhyankar died in a car accident on Mumbai-Pune Express Highway on 23 December 2012. He was returning to Mumbai after finishing the shoot of his upcoming film Duniyadaari.

Nutan (1936 – 1991)

Nutan was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 1990. In February 1991, she was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after she fell ill. At the time, she was filming Garajna. She died at 12:07 p.m. on 21 February.

Macmohan (1938 – 2010)

Mac Mohan was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri in Mumbai after his health detoriated. He had a tumour in the right lung, which grew to be lung cancer and finally killed him on 10 May 2010, aged 72.

Achala Sachdev (1920 – 2012)

In September 2011, Achala slipped and fell in her kitchen. She sustained a fracture in her leg. After that, she was diagnosed with multiple emboli in her brain. This resulted in total paralysis and the loss of her vision, and after some time she passed away due to respiratory failure.

Pran (1920 – 2013)

He was treated at the Lilavati Hospital and died on 12 July 2013, at 8:30 p.m. He had been admitted to hospital a few times in the last few months for deteriorating health; at some point he was battling pneumonia.Some people believe that he must have passed away due to his age as he died at the age of 93.
